Being a Christian In San Diego Politics
(summary by Gary Avánt)

Our March 2003 speaker was Byron Wear, a two-term former San Diego Councilman, serving the City of San Diego for 8 years and previous deputy mayor of San Diego from 1998 to 1999.

Byron discussed his reflections as a Godly man on his years in politics in San Diego. He shared the key focus that kept him balanced - his wife, his family life, and forgiveness within the political arena. He expressed the need to have additional mature and balanced Christians in political offices, to keep pushing for “doing what is right”.

Byron described some of his experiences with various local Christian political and community leaders such as Duncan Hunter, Larry Stirling, Ken Blanchard, and Father Carrow.
